»GOLDEN EMBLEM AWARD AT THE STEFAN DAYS TO A FEMALE SCIENTIST FROM THE DEPARTMENT FOR NANOSTRUCTURED MATERIALS« Jožef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana 24. March 2006 At the end of March each year J. Stefan Institute organises the Stefan Days with the aim to remember the Slovenian physicist and for popularisation of science. During Stefan days the most outstanding contributions to science in PhD dissertations in the field of natural sciences are awarded with the Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem Prize at the special ceremony. Golden Emblem Committee consists of distinguished researchers from the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Slovenian Universities and other research related institutions. Every research institution in Slovenia proposes up to 3 candidates for this award. Statistics show that since 1993 among 37 prizewinners only 3 are female scientists. Out of 4 possible candidates from the Department for Nanostructured Materials, we proposed our young female scientist, dr. Nina Daneu. The candidature was successful and she was also selected for the Prize, together with two other (male) post-docs from Slovene universities. This event was publicised in all main TV stations and printed media, as it is one of the main occasions promoting the excellency in science in Slovenia.
