The project intends to offer a database of women experts in Nano-Science. This database will be major criteria for different selection activities, e.g. promoting women in science, increasing the percentage of women in top-positions in the scientific field, staffing of boards and committees, for networking, collaboration in EU R&D projects, role models, mentoring, public speakers, media interviews etc. In order to have a common basis for linking with other women scientists databases we will follow the methodology of the well documented material/manual of the ‘A study on databases of women scientists’ (DATAWOMSCI) EU Project. One of the results of that project is the confirmation of the need to establish a common standard of quality for databases of women scientists.

The data collection of women experts in Nano-Science will be an online database (based on a feasibility questionnaire and application form, according to DATAWOMSCI recommendations, www.cews.org, and the online UK Database of Women Experts in SET, www.uksetwomenexperts.org.uk). The database will cover especially the countries involved in the project. The database (questionnaire, online registration) will be an Internet portal via the website of the WomenInNano project. Eligibility criteria and description of required information as well as necessary guidance notes will be available on the database portal. The application form will have associated with them a help icon containing information intended to guide the applicant women expert in the application process. Links with other databases of women scientists will be also available on the WomenInNano webpage. At the end of project a report with the statistical information resulted from this database will be published.

We had the idea to built up and manage a "Database of women in nanoscience". The technical installations for on-line access are made on our webpage. However, we decided, that it makes not too much sense to create another webpage on this topic since there are already so many existing ones.

That's why we want to strongly encourgage you to sign in another already existing and successfully working database.
